How to teach by Jigsaw Technique

Jigsaw in 10 Easy Steps
The jigsaw classrom is very simple to use. If you're a teacher, just follow these steps:

1. Divide students into 5- or 6-person jigsaw groups. The groups should be diverse in terms of gender, ethnicity, race, and ability.

2. Appoint one student from each group as the leader. Initially, this person should be the most mature student in the group.

3. Divide the day's lesson into 5-6 segments. For example, if you want history students to learn about Eleanor Roosevelt, you might divide a short biography of her into stand-alone segments on: (1) Her childhood, (2) Her family life with Franklin and their children, (3) Her life after Franklin contracted polio, (4) Her work in the White House as First Lady, and (5) Her life and work after Franklin's death.

4. Assign each student to learn one segment, making sure students have direct access only to their own segment.

5.Give students time to read over their segment at least twice and become familiar with it. There is no need for them to memorize it.

6.Form temporary "expert groups" by having one student from each jigsaw group join other students assigned to the same segment. Give students in these expert groups time to discuss the main points of their segment and to rehearse the presentations they will make to their jigsaw group.

7.Bring the students back into their jigsaw groups.

8. Ask each student to present her or his segment to the group. Encourage others in the group to ask questions for clarification.

9.Float from group to group, observing the process. If any group is having trouble (e.g., a member is dominating or disruptive), make an appropriate intervention. Eventually, it's best for the group leader to handle this task. Leaders can be trained by whispering an instruction on how to intervene, until the leader gets the hang of it.

10.At the end of the session, give a quiz on the material so that students quickly come to realize that these sessions are not just fun and games but really count. ow to teach by Jigsaw technique

BRIEF RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

This is a series of relaxation techniques that you can do almost any where and any time. They do not take very long to do. Do not force yourself to relax - just let it happen. If you would like to learn more about Relaxation, the Counseling Center has a variety of resources to help you.

Breathing:
2-Step breath - Fill the bottom of your lungs first, then add the top as you breathe through your nose. Breath out slowly. Feel the tension flowing out.

Tense-Relax Muscles:
Tighten the muscle that you want to relax. Focus on and feel the tension where you have tightened. Now let the muscle become loose and limp. Feel the relaxation flow into the muscle.

Body Scan:
With your mind briefly scan every muscle in your body from the tips of your toes to the top of your head. If you sense a tight muscle, just let it become limp and relaxed.

LimpRagDoll:
Do -the 2-step breath two times.
-With your mind imagine that you are a limp rag doll. Feel your mind and body become limp and relaxed. *** You may use whatever image you like best **

Mind Quieting: To quiet your mind first, focus on your breathing. As you breathe in say slowly to yourself "I am" and as you breathe out, say slowly to yourself "calm." When your mind feels calm you may focus only on your breathing, with no thoughts at all.
Shoulders, Arms and Hands Heavy and Warm:Put your mind into your shoulders, arms and hands - imagine and experience them becoming heavy, relaxed and warm.

-----Long Hairstyles-----
by David Yu

There are many different long hairstyles for those with long hair, whether it is crimpy, curly, or stick straight. Having long hair is great, because it is very versatile and can be styled into many different ways. All different hair colors look great when they are long, because they can be formed into specific hairstyles that will complement the color. No matter what type of hair you have, you can style your long hair into many beautiful looks.

Those with long curly hair have many different options when it comes to styling their hair. While being curly is great, long hair looks great when it is straight, and this can be done with a hot iron. If you have extremely curly or frizzy hair, you may want to consider using a straightening serum or spray to reduce the look of fuzz. Another great way to wear curly hair is down, since the curls give it great body and bounce. If you have curly hair and long bangs, you can tease your bangs and clip them back with cute barrettes. This will add great body to your bangs, and make your face stand out more. Some summer looks for curly hair include big ringlets, pulled up, and even half up half down looks. Because natural curls add body to the hair, there is no need to do excessive styling on long curly hair.
Straight hair is just as great as curly hair, because it can be formed into almost anything. Straight hair works great for ponytails, long braids, or even the simple straight down look. Those with straight hair can easily transform into curls or crimps with a little heat, but looks great for the summer with the stick straight look. Long hair works great for when you put your hair up, because it is very transformable and able to be tied back easily. Some straight hair may require a great amount of hair products to keep it in place, but looks great almost any way.

Both straight and curly long hair looks offer many different hairstyle opportunities. Wearing the hair down is a simple yet sophisticated look, while a nice bun would look great for an office atmosphere. Beautiful prom looks can be achieved for those with long hair, as well as those hitting the club on Friday night. Having long hair gives you the chance to style in almost any way you can think of, making it possible to look your best every day of the week. You can go straight or curly, up or down. You can put it all up or choose to leave some down. No matter what you choose to do with your long hair, you can make a look work for almost any situation you can think of.

Get into the Habit of Thinking ("_")('_')

******Get into the Habit of Thinking******

Most people go through life without thinking. They react automatically, from habit, to a given situation. They do not have a conscious objective and select their actions to get nearer their objective. Also they do not think about consequences of their actions. This is bad, it leads to many errors in acting. When you talk or think about a subject, stay with the subject, see all its sides, until you have reached a conclusion. Do not jump to another, unrelated, subject before finishing the first. Also, when talking, use words in daily use, or define your words, so that the other person can understand you fully. Those few persons that are in the habit of thinking, normally live better, they reach their goals. Therefore it is most important to get into the habit of thinking. You get into a habit by doing repeatedly. At first this will be slow and a lot of work, but with practice, this will become much faster and more useful. So think at least once or twice a day before you act. How can you do this "thinking"? That is explained in the following sections.

The skin

The skin has many purposes. It protects the body from injury and infection. It also helps to regulate body temperature and gets rid of waste substances through the sweat glands. The skin is divided into two main layers. The layer nearest the surface is known as the epidermis and the layer underneath is known as the dermis. The epidermis contains three types of cells. On the surface are flat cells, known as squamous cells. Under the layer of squamous cells are rounder cells called basal cells. In between the basal cells are the melanocytes. Melanocytes are cells that produce the pigment, melanin. It is this pigment that gives skin its colour variations.

How do you care for your nails ? ??????????????

The nutrients that are absorbed in your body are directly reflected in the appearance of your nails. Specifically Vitamin B, calcium and plenty of protein are essential for healthy nails.
Protect your hands and nails from harsh detergents and cleaners by wearing rubber gloves whenever you will be in contact with such chemicals. Be sure to wear gloves while gardening also.
Moisturize nails and cuticles at least once a day, preferably right before retiring for the night.
Give your nails a break from polish- the more your nails are allowed to breathe, the less they will chip or break.
Try applying a hardening polish before you apply regular polish. This way, the polish will be less damaging to your nails.
Biting your nails is not only a nasty habit to have- it makes your nails look horrible. People say that you can tell a lot about a person by their nails: remember this and remember to take care of your nails !

Let to know about the lovely dog : )

Six tip to feed your dog

Step One
Be sure to choose a reputable brand of dog food. Check with your veterinarian for recommendations.

Step Two
Select a high-quality dog food that's appropriate for your dog's age, weight, activity level or size. Make sure to feed your dog dry food as well as moist canned food to help keep his teeth clean.

Step Three
Be sure that protein ratios are appropriate for your dog's breed and age. Typically, dog food with 20 to 30 percent protein content provides a healthy balance.

Step Four
Avoid overfeeding, since obesity can lead to a variety of medical problems, including musculoskeletal problems, and can aggravate hip dysplasia (abnormal growth or development of the hip joint).

Step Five
Avoid feeding your dog table scraps'it encourages begging and may not be good for her digestive system. If you must give her 'people food,' put the scraps in her dog bowl after the family has finished the meal. Be careful to avoid giving her onions or chocolate.

Step Six
Feed your dog a measured amount twice daily, but keep in mind that some dogs prefer to eat one meal a day.
